  • The reaction of solutions of iron (III) thiocyanates and sodium , followed by concentration of the solution over H 2 SO 4 :

Physical Properties

Sodium hexathiocyanatoferrate (III) forms dark red crystalline hydrates of the composition Na 3 [Fe (SCN) 6 ] • n H 2 O, where n = 3 and 12.

Hygroscopic , diffuses when stored in air.

It is soluble in water and ethanol .
