Draft Procedure
During the 12th NHL draft in 24 rounds, 247 players were selected. However, it soon became clear that the Japanese hockey player Taro Tsujimoto from the Tokyo Katanas club, selected in the 11th round under 183 number by the Buffalo Sabers club, was just a figment of the fantasy of the club’s general manager Punch Imlacha, and the name of the hockey player was taken from the Buffalo telephone directory . After clarifying all the circumstances of the case, the NHL declared the Sabers choice invalid and removed the 183rd number from the 1974 draft pick. The right of first choice was granted to teams debuting in the NHL - Washington Capitals and Kansas City Scouts .
