Biography
Born on March 17, 1923 in the village of Krymsk now in the Novoaydarsky district of the Luhansk region of Ukraine. In the army since April 1941. In 1944 he graduated from the school of pilots.
Member of World War II . He fought on the 1st Baltic and 3rd Belorussian fronts . He made 93 sorties on the Il-2 attack aircraft .
After the war until 1948 he continued to serve in the combat units of the Air Force. He conducted a series of test operations on jet fighter aircraft. In 1952-1968, the test pilot of the Gorky Aircraft Plant
For courage and heroism shown during the testing of new aircraft, Lieutenant Colonel Minenko Leonid Ivanovich was awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union on May 1, 1957 with the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal.
Since August 1970, retired. He lived in the city of Nizhny Novgorod . He died on October 10, 2007. He was buried at the Bugrovsky cemetery of the city.
