Professional career
After an amateur career in which he spent 40 fights, he made his debut in June 2008 in a professional ring in the second light weight category.
On January 6, 2012, after 14 win-win battles, he knocked out an American, Michael Perez , and won the youth title of WBO Intercontinental World Champion.
On April 20, 2013, he knocked out in the first round of the Puerto Rican, Abner Cotto [1] .
On July 27, 2013 Figueroa won on points in spectacular combat, the Japanese, Nihito Arakawa , and won the title of interim WBC lightweight world champion [2] .
On April 26, 2014, in a fight for the title of full-fledged world champion according to the WBC , he barely outboxed points by a separate decision of the judges, American Jerry Belmontes [3] .
