Biography

Mikhail Radchenko was born on December 14, 1908 in the village of Markovka (now a village in the Luhansk region of Ukraine ). Early left without parents, worked as a farm laborer , a shepherd . Later he moved to the city of Georgievsk, Stavropol Territory , where he worked on the railway, was a delivery man, apprentice locksmith, locksmith, assistant driver, engineer in the depot of the Gudermes station of the Ordzhonikidze railway. Active participant in the Krivonosov movement [1] .

During the Great Patriotic War, Radchenko drove military trains, trains with oil , evacuation trains. In August 1942 , despite a massive enemy bombardment and shelling, he successfully drove a train with ammunition to Gudermes. During the Battle of Stalingrad, he was engaged in the delivery of fuel tanks to the Volga , and during the Soviet counteroffensive, he brought in reinforcements and ammunition [1] .

By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of November 5, 1943, Mikhail Radchenko was awarded the title of Hero of Socialist Labor with the Order of Lenin and a medal for “special merits in providing transportation for the front and the national economy and outstanding achievements in restoring the railway industry in difficult wartime conditions” "Hammer and Sickle" [1] .

After the war, Radchenko continued to work on the railway. Since 1963 - retired. He lived in Gudermes. He died on March 20, 1975 [1] .

Honorary Railwayman . He was awarded two orders of Lenin and a number of medals [1] .
