Sanskrit-Russian Dictionary - compiled by Vera Alexandrovna Kochergina on the basis of a receipt of the material texts that she used for thirty years of teaching Sanskrit at the philological, philosophical and historical faculties of Moscow State University. MV Lomonosov and at the Department of Indian Philology, Institute of Asian and African countries at Moscow State University [1] . Designed for students studying Sanskrit , as well as for linguists working in the field of general and comparative-historical Indo-European linguistics, for literary scholars and historians-Indologists.

The dictionary includes about 30,000 Sanskrit words with international transliteration based on Latin graphics, grammatical forms of parts of speech are given. The dictionary reflects the most important vocabulary of epic and classical Sanskrit and does not contain the words of the Vedic language , Jain Sanskrit and Buddhist hybrid Sanskrit . In preparing the second edition, individual corrections were made, the meanings of a number of words were supplemented, and litters were also clarified. The supplement attached to the dictionary contains grammatical terms, hard-to-recognize forms, epic component formulas and complex words, the meaning of which is not equivalent to the meaning of their components, as well as additional meanings to the words already in the dictionary. Words in the dictionary are in the alphabetical order of Devanagari . All derivatives and compound words are given in independent articles.
The Appendix “Sanskrit Grammar” to this dictionary was written by A. A. Zaliznyak , it is included in all editions of the dictionary.
Edition History
Sanskrit-Russian dictionary is published for the first time. The first edition was published in 1978 by the Russian Language Publishing House, the second in 1987 in the same publishing house, the third in 1996 (Philology Publishing House) and in 2005 (Academic Project Publishing House).
