Kharitonov, Pavel Nikiforovich

Pavel Kharitonov was born on March 20, 1931 at the Vikhlyaevsky farm (now - Novoanninsky district of the Volgograd region ). Since 1931 he lived in Uryupinsk . He graduated from high school, then for some time he studied at the Batay military aviation school of pilots, but was expelled for health reasons. In 1958, Kharitonov graduated from the Voronezh Agricultural Institute. He worked for two years in the Oryol region , and in 1960 he worked in the Uryupinsky district department of procurement ^[1] .

Since 1964, Kharitonov led the Uryupinsky state farm. The state farm was one of the worst in the region, but over the years of Kharitonov’s leadership, the situation has changed dramatically. In the 1970s and 1980s, the state farm annually sold 6 thousand tons of meat to the state, which amounted to half of all sales in the district. The state farm also produced record wheat crops (about 35 centners from each of 10 thousand hectares). Under Kharitonov, a large number of residential buildings, social facilities and industrial facilities were built at the state farm ^[1] .

By a decree of the President of the USSR of August 8, 1990, for "achieving high sustainable results in the production and sale of agricultural products to the state, a great personal contribution to solving social issues," Pavel Kharitonov was awarded the high title of Hero of Socialist Labor with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Hammer and Sickle Medal ^[1] .

In 1996, Kharitonov retired. Currently lives on the farm Dyakonovsky Uryupinsky district ^[1] .

Honorary Citizen of Uryupinsky District. He was awarded two Orders of Lenin, orders of the Red Banner of Labor and the Badge of Honor , along with a number of medals ^[1] .
