Biography

Born on January 2, 1923 in Rostov-on-Don in an Armenian family.

In the 1930s, he graduated from the Ippolitov-Ivanov Rostov School of Music, then entered the music school, but because of the Great Patriotic War , he could finish it only in 1949 (in the composition class).

Member of World War II. During the war he was an artilleryman and musician in the ensemble of the 61st Army , and reached Berlin . Then he returned to Rostov, where he married a soloist of a female jazz band.

Returning to his hometown, from 1945 to 1947 , George Balaev served in the SKVO ensemble, then created his own pop orchestra at the Spartak movie theater, and since 1959 he worked with his orchestra in the panoramic Russia movie theater [1] (now the Center named after Kim Nazaretov).

He died on February 20, 2012 in Rostov-on-Don. [2]

  • Georgy Mikhailovich Balaev - author of about 500 works, made 150 stock records of orchestral music, the company " Melody " released two of his records. It was his Winter Waltz [3] (also known as Happy Waltz [4] ) that sounded for many years at the beginning of the famous television Blue Lights .
