Kutuzov, Dorji Jab

Dorji Jab (Dorji-Jap) Kutuzov (? - August 6 ( 18 ), 1889 ) is a lecturer of the Mongolian language at St. Petersburg University , a zaisang of the Maloderbetevsky ulus .

Biography

The year and place of birth are unknown. He studied at the Kalmyk school in Astrakhan , then served in the Kalmyk administration, where he represented the interests of his Abganer-Ketchenerov aimag . After the death of Lama Gamboyev, he was invited to St. Petersburg University as a civilian lecturer of the Mongolian language and taught since October 1863. In April 1866, he left the university and went to the Buryat steppes, lived for some time in Urga .

After the resignation of Professor Dorzheev, he was again invited to the post of teacher of the Mongolian language at St. Petersburg University. In this post, he remained until 1887, when he retired due to illness.

Subsequently, he was the ruler of the Maloderbetovsky ulus, but did not lose touch with the university: he assisted expeditions of professors and student practitioners who arrived in Kalmykia, and donated 20 valuable Kalmyk manuscripts to the university library. Collected Kalmyk folklore, proverbs and sayings. He died on August 6 ( 18 ), 1889 .

Family

The youngest son of the Zaysang Jap Kutuzov. After the death of his father, Dordzhi-Jap's elder brother, Badme-Jap Kutuzov, began to rule the family, after the death of his brother, the board passed to Dorji-Jap.

Wife - Ovan (baptized - Olga Alexandrovna) Kutuzova (1864 or 1865 - after 1929). Maiden name - Shalburova. She graduated from the Astrakhan Mariinsky Gymnasium, a national teacher. Two sons (Peter and Dmitry Kutuzov).
