Dorostol diocese

Dorostolsk diocese ( Bulgarian. Dorostolsk diocese ) - the diocese of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church with a pulpit in the city of Silistra (old name: Dorostol) and bishops' governors in Dulovo , Karapelit and Alfatar .

History

A Christian sermon arrived in the Roman city of Durostor no later than the end of the 3rd century. The first news of the episcopal department in Durostor refers to the 2nd floor. IV century: approx. 383 years the department was occupied by the bishop. Auxentius, Arian.

On February 28, 1870, Sultan Abdul-Azis issued a firman about the creation of the Bulgarian Exarchate ; The 10th point of the firman, divided the exarchate into 15 dioceses, among which was Silistra.

At the People’s Council in 1870 in Constantinople, it was decided to unite the Rusenskaya and Silistrensky dioceses into a single Dorostolo-Chervensky Metropolis, with a pulpit in Rousse, and in 1872 the ruling bishop of the new diocese was elected.

By the decision of the fifth church-people's council of December 17, 2001, the Dorostolo-Cherven diocese was divided into the Rusen and Dorostol diocese.
