Nikolai Petrovich Titov ( December 4 (17), 1908 - March 2, 1989 ) - commander of the 12th Guards Rifle Regiment of the 5th Guards of the Gorodok Rifle Division of the 11th Guards Army of the 3rd Belorussian Front , Guard Lieutenant Colonel , Hero of the Soviet Union .

Biography
He was born on December 4 (17), 1908, at the Korechnoe farm in the village of Kolodeznoye, now in the Dvurechansky district of the Kharkov region . He worked as a blacksmith.
In the Red Army from October 1929 to 1938. He served in the troops of the OGPU-NKVD. Re-drafted into the Red Army in June 1941. He fought on the South-Western, Western, Bryansk, Baltic, 2nd and 1st Baltic, 3rd Belorussian fronts. In battles, twice wounded and 6 times shell-shock. He participated in many battles. On July 14, 1944, the 12th Guards Rifle Regiment under the command of the Guard Lieutenant Colonel Titov crossed the Neman River near the village of Merech of the Republic of Lithuania, seized the bridgehead and, repelling all the enemy’s counterattacks, held it firmly until the main division forces approached.
On March 24, 1945, for the exemplary performance of command missions at the front of the struggle against Nazi invaders and the courage and heroism of the guard shown, Lieutenant Colonel Titov Nikolai Pavlovich was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union with the Order of Lenin and the Golden Star medal .
Since 1954, Colonel N.P. Titov in stock. He lived in the city of Kharkov. He died on March 2, 1989.
