Located in the north-eastern part of the district, on the left bank of the Pismir river. 30 kilometers north-east of the city of Dimitrovgrad , 10 kilometers south of the village of Staraya Sakhcha . In the southwestern part of the village there is a small reservoir. In summer, the number of inhabitants is greater than in winter.
The main streets are Lesnaya, Centralnaya, Novaya.
The name “Letter” comes from the old Russian phrase “Without measure”.
Unlike most villages, in Pismir there were state peasants, not serfs, which became a significant advantage in the development of the village. This difference in tax benefits protected against the arbitrariness of the local rich. The village developed due to crafts: production of charcoal, honey production in apiaries, needlework, fishing, blacksmithing, etc.
A public affairs was the sale of a large plot of land, the district administration - to the owner, in 2010. The case received a public outcry, since the property turned out to be part of the river and the reservoir. Subsequently, the district court declared the transaction illegal. [one]
