Studied reforestation and afforestation. In 1997 , she was co-founder of the civil movement against the disposal of atomic waste in Gorleben . In 1984 , she became an assistant to Undina von Blottnitz in the European Parliament . From 1988 to 1994 , in collaboration with the Wendland Film Cooperative, she participated in the production of a series of documentaries. In 1994 , she was elected deputy to the Landtag of the federal state of Lower Saxony , in 1998 she led the faction there.

The most important topic for her has always been the topic of energy policy. Since 2004 , Rebecca Harms has been pursuing her line for the use of renewable energy sources, for the efficient use of energy and against the return to nuclear energy in the European Parliament , in the Commission for Industry, Research and Energy. She is a member of the Committee on Parliamentary Cooperation between Ukraine and the EU and Deputy Committee on Environmental Protection . Rebecca Harms - Member of the Political Council of the Union 90 / Green Party , together with Daniel Cohn-Bendit - Co-Chair of the Green Party - European Free Alliance in the European Parliament.

December 15, 2013 visited Kiev and supported Euromaidan [2] .
