Biography

Nikolai Kulish was born on December 25, 1928 in the village of Novorogovskaya (now - the Yegorlyksky district of the Rostov region ).

He graduated from nine classes of the school.

In February 1943, his father was shot dead for cooperation with the occupiers. Kulish studied at the Rostov Railway Institute, but was expelled as the son of a collaborator. In the same year he was called up for service in the Soviet Army . Demobilized, Kulish graduated from the courses of excavators and left for the development of virgin lands . In 1957 he returned to his homeland, worked as an excavator in a mobile mechanized column "Rostovdonvodostroya" [1] .

Kulish was one of the first excavators in the region, who switched to round-the-clock work in four shifts on a rolling schedule. Thanks to the competent organization of labor, the use of new technologies and techniques of excavation, the crew of the E-652 excavator achieved high performance in work, over the 8 years of its work exceeding the norm by 2.36 times, which was a record for its time. The crew of Kulish won twice in professional competitions. In parallel with work, Kulish was an instructor at the school to study the experience of four-shift crews of excavators and advanced labor methods [1] .

By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of March 10, 1976, Nikolai Kulish was awarded the high rank of Hero of Socialist Labor with the award of the Order of Lenin and a medal for “outstanding successes achieved in the all-Union socialist competition and the manifested labor prowess in fulfilling the tasks of the ninth five-year plan and the obligations undertaken for water management construction” "Hammer and Sickle" [1] .

In 1979, Kulish wrote a textbook for vocational schools about the round-the-clock work of excavators. He took an active part in land reclamation, the construction of the Upper Proletarian main canal and a number of rice systems. Having retired, he lived in Bataisk.

He died on December 21, 2007, and was buried in Bataisk [1] .
