Biography
Born on September 15, 1921 in the city of Kharkov ( Ukraine ). He lived in the city of Konstantinovka Donetsk region of Ukraine . He worked at the glass factory.
In the Red Army since 1940. In 1941 he graduated from the Krasnodar Artillery School. Member of the Great Patriotic War since June 1942. Fought on the Steppe and the 2nd Ukrainian fronts .
He distinguished himself in battles on October 16-18, 1943 in the Poltava region of Ukraine. Fire mortar destroyed fire emplacements and manpower of the enemy, supporting the attacks of infantry units.
February 22, 1944 for the exemplary performance of combat tasks of the command on the front of the fight against the German fascist invaders and the courage and heroism shown to Lieutenant Stepanchenko Viktor Grigorievich was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal.
After the war, he continued service in the Armed Forces of the USSR . Since 1971, Colonel V. G. Stepanchenko in stock. He lived in Moscow. He died on August 10, 1999.
