History
The village begins to be mentioned in 1678 . According to official sources of the period preceding the 20s of the 20th century, the village was divided into 2 settlements - Old Kniabash and New Kniabash. In the period from the XVIII to the 1st half of the XIX century, the population belonged to the category of state peasants . Administrative identity of the village in different years [1] :

Geographical position
The village is located in the north of Tatarstan, in the southwestern part of the Baltasinsky district, in the northwestern part of the rural settlement, on the banks of the Khotnya river. The distance to the district center (urban-type settlement Baltasi ) is 13 km. The absolute height is 137 meters above sea level [2] . The nearest populated areas are Lower Knya , Upper Knya , Tau Zara , Hasanshaikh .
