Fuscian came from a patrician family and was a childhood friend of Emperor Marcus Aurelius , with another he studied philosophy. For about 151 he served as consul-suffice . In 188, Fusian was on the post of ordinary consul along with Marc Servilius Silan .
Fuscian may have become prefect of Rome during his second consulate. However, the start of the exercise of authority has not been precisely established. There is a certain likelihood that he, at least from the middle of 187, was already a prefect when he was appointed to the consuls (consul designate). Fuscian remained at his post until about mid-189, becoming the forerunner of the future emperor Pertinax . Perhaps he is a relative of the usurper Say Sallust .
