The administrative center is the village of Sandogora . The development of inbound tourism and agriculture is one of the priorities of the Sandogorsk rural settlement.
Sandogorsk rural settlement is one of the most extensive in area in the Kostroma region: it consists of 18 settlements, which are scattered over an area of 505 square kilometers. 1546 people live in these settlements. The settlement is located 54 kilometers from the city of Kostroma.
Major settlements are the village of Sandogora, which is the central manor of the rural settlement, the village of Miskovo, the village of Fominskoe.

History
Sandogorsk rural settlement was established on December 30, 2004 in accordance with the Law of the Kostroma region No. 237-WKO [3] , the status and boundaries of the municipality are established.
In the old part of this territory occupied Obnorsk volost, located in the lower part of the river Obnory; This parish is known for the spiritual testament of Simeon
Proud son of Ivan Kalita. Sandogora was sometimes called the Holy Mountain and was part of the frontier of the Kostroma Spaso-Zaprudennogo monastery. In 1609, the Poles ruined Sandogore,
held from Lyubim to Kostroma. The village is famous for the ancient Trinity Church, which is a decoration of Sandogory.
The village of Fominskoe with the neighboring villages was located in the birthplace of the Gennadiyev Monastery, near the town of Lyubim. An interesting ancient church of the village. First wooden church in the name of
Rev. Dimitry Prilutsky in Fominsky was mentioned in 1551, when the village was transferred by pledge from the successors of G. N. Liharyov to the Spaso-Gennadiyev Monastery, during
possession of which it remained until 1764. In the first half of the 17th century, a hipped-roofed temple was erected to replace the former Kletsk with the same “about the walls”
bell tower, consecrated in the name of St. Martyr Demetrius of Thessalonica. In the village in 1712 a new wooden one was built on the site of a dilapidated church.
The Church of the Savior, which was transported to the Kostroma museum of wooden architecture. In the early 40s of the 19th century, stone was erected to replace the wooden hipped roof.

The village of Miskovo was formed in 1958. The Miskovskoy Peat Enterprise, opened in 1956, became the city-forming for the settlement, since before the war, geologists were
open large reserves of peat in our territory. The village got its name from the old village Miskovo, flooded in 1956.
12 kilometers from the village of Yamkovo is the village of Shoda, where in the 19th century Nekrasov liked to come to visit Gavrila Zakharov, whom he met when he was
travel in Kostroma. Shoda fell in love with Nekrasov, with her low-lying meadows, forest beauty, the wise Shodists.
