History
In the annals of the church at this place was first mentioned in January 1468, when Archbishop Jonah , who arrived from Novgorod, “called Pskov’s posadniks and priesthood to the Pustyn’s court” [2] . In the book “The Past of the City of Pskov” by Vladimir Gedimin , it is indicated that the church was built in 1494 on the courtyard of the Great Desert Monastery [3] .
In 1766, the church was transferred from the Velikopustynsky monastery in Rozhnitskaya ambush "the image of the elbow in the case" [2] . After the abolition of the Great Desert Monastery in the 18th century, it served as a courtyard of the Spaso-Eleazarovsky Monastery [4] . At that time in the church cellar was a well with clean water [4] .
In August 1820, Archimandrite Zosima reported to Archbishop Eugene that the church "becomes dangerous to perform the service." At the same time, the architect Franz Jabs concluded that the church "... is quite solid, for security you should break the arches in the church and the altar is the same as the front stone head and plaster instead of arches and whitewash without touching the roof" [2] .
In 1822, part of the roof was removed and the arches were broken. After that, on the middle transverse wall, above the royal gates, and above the north and south doors on both sides, there were considerable cracks below and above the arches, which made the wall broken and erected again [2] .
In 1867, on the pillar of the temple in place of the ancient belfry on the pillars, a stone hipped bell tower was erected [4] [2] .
The church was closed before the start of World War II . During the war, the Germans used the church as a garage, for which wide gates were cut from the south side of the temple [4] .
In 1960, a forge was placed in the apse of the church, and a garage with a viewing hole and a teapot was located in the quadruple with an annexed vestibule. The refectory played the role of the administrative building, and the pantry was in the furnished porch [2] .
In 1995, the church was returned to the Russian Orthodox Church and assigned to the Trinity Cathedral [2] . The restoration of the church began in the summer of 2006. The first service, which was attended by Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Lyubov Sliska , took place on January 5, 2007 [4] .
Currently, the church is a courtyard of the Spaso-Eleazarovsky monastery [4] .
