Beverly Hills, 90210

Naive Donna was raised in a conservative family, so she kept her virginity longer than her friends. Donna never got married, but her “first time” was “just magical” - as she dreamed, with her beloved.

Despite her chastity, Donna had a huge number of fans ready to wait. But, most importantly, she was just “lucky” with various nerds and obsessed. What is only one affair with Ray Prowit, pushing a girl from the stairs!

Donna had many affections, but for one reason or another, none of her novels were too long. She met with David for a very long time, then ended her relationship with him, then started again and so on. But in the end, all the same, she married him, rejecting Noah, who remained heartbroken.

And Donna fulfilled her long-held dream: together with Kelly, she opened a boutique of fashionable clothes “Now they wear it!”.

90210: The New Generation

Closer to the finale of the first season, Donna comes to visit Kelly. Viewers find out that he and David live in Japan, they have two children, and the couple goes through a crisis - Donna is on the verge of a divorce, and she wants to open clothing stores in Beverly Hills, but David sends her flowers asking him to forgive him for the quarrel and asks to return home.

The creators of the new show saw the first episodes as a grand reunion of the three stars of the classic series - Jenny Garth , Shannen Doherty and Tori Spelling . And if Garth and Doherty agreed to participate in the project [2] , then there were problems with Tory Spelling: the official version of the refusal was such that the actress had just given birth and was not ready to start working with her exhausting shootings [3] .

However, in reality, everything was different - the producers did not want to pay Spelling the same money as her colleagues, significantly reducing her fee. Judging by the fact that both Doherty and Garth spoke negatively on this subject, we can assume that this is true [4] . Meanwhile, evil tongues claimed that Spelling, known for her spoiled character, did not want to withdraw from Doherty - only if she was not offered a real large sum for appearing in new episodes. But what was the real reason for Spelling's refusal to star in the pilot is not known - be that as it may, the actress appeared in several episodes at the end of the first season [5] , settling all friction with the producers regarding the fees.

Casting

Initially, Tori Spelling auditioned for the role of Kelly Taylor , using the pseudonym Toria Mitchell [6] - the girl did not want to count on success just because her father was a famous producer - before that, she starred in many of her father’s projects in episodic roles. Joanna Rey says that the set had to pretend that they did not know who they really were [7] . As a result, sixteen-year-old Tory got the role of Donna Martin, Kelly’s girlfriend [8] .

Recognition

Donna Martin and David Silver (performed by actor Brian Austin Green ) were included in the list of “17 best television super-pairs” according to the Entertainment Weekly resource [9] .

Also, the name of the character is associated among many viewers with the phrase “Donna Martin with us!” ( Eng. Donna Martin Graduates! ) In connection with the episode “Something In The Air”, which caused a public outcry among viewers and critics [10] [11] [12 ] ] [13] . According to the plot, the school council is hearing the case of Donna, who drank too much at the graduation party. As a result, the girl loses the opportunity to finish school with all classmates. Brandon Walsh with friends persuade the whole school to refuse to take exams and leads the crowd scandalizing this slogan to the building of the school council [14] . Subsequently, this phrase also became one of the most popular prints for T-shirts and a symbol of youth culture of the 1990s [11] . This episode took 4th place in the list of “The Six Most Memorable Series” according to People Magazine [15] .

Aidan, performed by Sam Whitver in the series “ Being a Man, ” pronounces the phrase “Donna Martin Graduates” in the seventh episode of the second season of “The Ties That Blind” [16] .
