Hemicryptophyte Biennial herb 30-50 cm tall. Stem branched, ribbed, pubescent along the ribs. Leaves pinnate, or (lower), double-peristorissected, rough, pubescent along margin.
Inflorescences - baskets , single, leathery wrapper leaves, pale green or yellowish. The flowers are pink. Blooming in June and August. Fruits in July-September. Propagated by seeds [3] .
Endemic of the middle course of the Donets Seversky . Several locations are known. The species is represented by several small declining populations . It grows on dry, sandy, nutrient- poor soils . Mesoxerophyte [3] .
The species is listed in the Red Book of the Rostov Region , Ukraine , and the Donetsk Region in Ukraine [4] . The reasons for the low abundance are natural relictness , as well as anthropogenic factors : tearing to bouquets, development of the near-river sites, construction [3] .
