Slepakova, Nonna Mendelevna

Nona Mendelevna Slepakova ( October 31, 1936 - August 12, 1998 ) was a Russian Soviet poet and translator. The wife of the poet Lev Mochalov .

Biography

His father, a textile engineer, a participant in the Great Patriotic War, Mendel Tsalevich Slepakov (1907, Semenovka - 1956), was seriously wounded and in 1951 as a result of this injury was paralyzed; before the war he worked at the factory “Red weaver” (plant named after Telman), and after the war he became the director of the trade school there. She graduated from the Leningrad State Library Institute named after NK Krupskaya (1958), worked in the printing house "Printing House".

For the first time published a poetic cycle in 1961. From 1967 to 1996. published a series of poetry collections, books of poetry and prose for children. The most famous of her poetry collections are the Petrograd Side (1985), The Queue (1996), and the Right of Alienation (1998).

Translated from English - Keats, Kipling, Milne, modern English and American poets. Has written about 30 songs.

On the stages of the Russian theater staged plays for children; the most famous is “The Cat Who Walked by Herself” after the tale of R. Kipling .

In 1996, together with the poet-translator Ilya Fonyakov, she published the book of translations of the famous American poet Aaron Kramer “Border Incident”. She translated several prose English books for children, including “The Adventures of a Little Mouse called Thursday (Thursday)” by Michael Bond. In 1997 N. Slepakova's novel “Lilac Lupins or Smoke without Fire” was published. Many journal publications.

Led a seminar for young poets of St. Petersburg.

Since 1968 a member of the Writers' Union. Since 1991, a member of the Writers' Union of St. Petersburg.
