The son of Bertrand IV , Prince of Orange and Eleanor of Geneva.
Married to Anna of Vienna, daughter of Gigue de la Tour du Pan and Beatrice de Beau (d'Avellino). For this marriage, papal permission was needed, given on May 28, 1317. Gig died in 1319 and Anna inherited the barony Montauban, whom she and her husband decided to cede to Dauphin Gig VIII in exchange for money.
