Rossika (philately)

The literal meaning of the word “Rossika” is “related to Russia” [3] .

Description

The philatelic “Rossik” includes postage stamps and other philatelic materials depicting people or events related to Russia, the territory of Russia, containing words or phrases in Russian or in the language of other peoples of the Russian Federation, which are reproductions of paintings by Russian artists stored in Russian or foreign museums, etc. [2]

The philatelists of Great Britain and the United States in a broader sense mean “Rossika” postage stamps of Russia and the USSR .

Especially actively issued stamps on the topic "Rossika" in the former socialist countries, when up to 10% of the postal issues related to Russian and Soviet subjects [2] .

Collecting

“Rossika” as an area of ​​collecting requires a research approach and careful study of postage stamps issued abroad [2] . This topic enjoys certain popularity among philatelists, and motivational and thematic collections can be formed on it.

Philatelic associations

The well-known oldest organization of philatelists on this subject is . It was founded in 1929 by Eugene Arkhangelsky in the form of the Russian Society of Philatelists in Yugoslavia and later moved to the United States, where it was formed as the Rossica Society of Russian Philately [1] .

Print Editions

The special philatelic magazine Rossika, which tells about research on the history of Russian and Soviet postage stamps, was originally published in Russian as an organ of the Russian Society of Philatelists in Yugoslavia. Currently, it is published in English in the United States under the auspices of the Rossica Society of Russian Philately [1] [3] .

Rossika 2013

From September 27 to 29, 2013 in Moscow (Russia) the international philatelic exhibition “Rossika-2013” ​​took place with the participation of [4] :
