The appearance in Chelyabinsk of another monument to V.I. Lenin was supposed to coincide with preparations for the celebration of the 40th anniversary of the Great October Socialist Revolution . The announced competition involved 18 projects, including the project of the Chelyabinsk sculptor L. N. Golovnitsky. After two rounds of the competition, the first place went to a duet from Chelyabinsk: Golovnitsky - Alexandrov and sculptor V.S. Zaikov who joined them as a co-author. Vitaly Zaikov was the first in history to propose the idea of creating a monument to dynamic Lenin - Lenin in motion. Then this trend was repeated by other sculptors throughout the CIS.

Despite the questions raised about the transfer of the monument from the main square of Chelyabinsk, the decree of the Governor of the Chelyabinsk region P.I. Sumin , the monument was put on state guard.
