Biography
Orthodox. From the nobles of the Tauride province . The son of the provincial leader of the nobility Wilhelm Nikolaevich Olive and his wife Sophia Sergeevna Shcherbinina (1806-1883). Large landowner of Theodosia district (2100 acres at the village of Koshkuy and 2150 acres at the village of Doranar), jointly owned with his brother - 1,500 dessiatines at the village of Seit-Eli , his wife - 1800 dessiatins at the village of Alekseevsky, Maloarkhangelsky district, Orel province .
At the end of the Nikolaev School of Guard Junkers in 1864, he was released as a cornet in the Life Guards Hussars regiment .
Ranks: lieutenant (1864), staff captain (1867), captain (1870), colonel (1874), major general (for distinction, 1884), lieutenant general (for distinction, 1900), cavalry general ( 1907).
In 1871 he was appointed commander of the squadron of the Hussar Regiment , in 1875 he was appointed commander of the 1st Division of the same regiment and was granted the adjutant wing . He was chairman of the regimental court in 1877-1878. He participated in the Russian-Turkish war of 1877-1878, including in the battles of Mountain Dubnyak and Telish . For military distinction was awarded the Order of St. 4th degree Vladimir with swords and a bow, as well as Golden weapons . May 29, 1878 was appointed commander of the 8th dragoon Astrakhan regiment and was in this position until May 6, 1884, when he went into reserve.
On June 18, 1890 he returned to service with the rank of major general and was appointed governor of Kherson . On November 30, 1893, he was appointed assistant to the head of the Main Directorate of Destinies , in which position he remained until April 6, 1900, when he was appointed honorary guardian of the St. Petersburg presence. On March 17, 1903 he was appointed comrade of the head manager, and on April 2, 1906, he was appointed head of the Own E. I. V. Chancellery for the Institutions of Empress Maria . On January 1, 1907 he was awarded the rank of cavalry general.
In addition, he was an honorary magistrate for the Maloarkhangelsk Uyezd (1889-1892), a member of the Councils of the Educational Society of Noble Maidens and the Alexander Institute (1902-1907), as well as the manager of the St. Petersburg Clinical Midwifery and Gynecological Institute for the Poor. In 1905, he was a member of the Special Meeting to review the establishment of the Governing Senate and to draft laws on local administrative courts in connection with the transformation of the Senate.
On January 1, 1909 he was appointed a member of the Council of State . He died on January 28, 1909 in St. Petersburg. He was buried at the Bolsheokhtinsky cemetery .
Family
Since 1876 he was married to Maria Alexandrovna, nee Kolemina (1850-1938, Nice) [1] . Their kids:
- Michael (1881-1956), officer of the Cavalry Guard regiment, collector. He was married to the daughter of the industrialist P. A. Kharitonenko , Elena Pavlovna (1879-1948), in her first marriage - Urusova.
- Vladimir (1884—?), A graduate of the Alexander Lyceum (1909). Chamber Junker, the last leader of the nobility of the Maloarkhangelsk district [2] . Before the revolution, he lived in his estate at the village of Alekseevka, then emigrated to the United States. He had two daughters [3] .
- Elizabeth (1880-1937), was born in the village of Dzhapar-Koshkui of the Feodosia district. Received home education. Since 1905 - maid of honor of Grand Duchess Maria Pavlovna , since 1914 she worked in the Red Cross . After 1917, she was arrested several times for “anti-Soviet activities”, in 1937 she was arrested again, on December 7, 1937, she was sentenced to the VMN and shot on December 21 [4] .
