Description of the symbols of the coat of arms

The coat of arms of the city of Kasimov is a azure (blue, blue) heraldic shield, in which an old golden ship's base is placed, meaning that from this place since ancient times forests surrounding the city of Kasimov were delivered to the ship's structure.

The shaped nose of the ship’s base reminded of the unique history of Kasimov (Gorodets Meshchersky), which was the center of the Kasimov kingdom in the 15th and 17th centuries, is crowned with a gold crown adorned with semi-precious stones.

As a sign of the administrative-territorial affiliation of the city of Kasimov to the Ryazan region in the upper heraldic left (right from the viewer) corner of the shield is placed a golden freestyle (special square) with a rounded corner, in which is an old green princely cap crowning the head of the prince in the regional coat of arms. The cap has a black sable edge, above which a gold ornament (“town”) is strengthened, symbolizing the “Tree of Life”, with an azure semi-precious stone, the color of the coat of arms and meaning the precious stone of the city of Kasimov in the crown of the Ryazan region.

Historical coat of arms of Kasimov (1779)

The historical coat of arms of Kasimov was approved by the Emperor on May 29 ( June 9 ), 1779 by Empress Catherine II, along with other coats of arms of the cities of the Ryazan governorship (CPSRI, 1779, Law No. 14884). [2] [3] In the annex to the Law No. 14884 “Drawings of the Coats of Arms of Ryazan Province”, there is indicated an earlier date of the Highest approval of the coat of arms, March 29 ( April 9 ), 1779 . Most likely, the early date is a mistake that appeared in the appendix of the “Complete Collection of the Laws of the Russian Empire” in 1843 when compiling a special volume with lithographed images of all city and provincial emblems.

The original description of the emblem of Kasimov was: At the top of the emblem of the Ryazan governorship - “silver sword and scabbard laid on the cross, above them a green cap, what is the Prince in Namstnicheskom emblem”.

“In the 2 nd part of the blue half of the ship's base, which means that seized this place will be delivered to the ship's own shipboard.”

The coat of arms of Kasimov was compiled in the Geroldmeister office under the leadership of the state's adviser A. A. Volkov .
