Biography

Sigmund Exner was born on April 5, 1846 in Vienna, the capital of Austria [1] ; came from one of the university surnames of the Austro-Hungarian Empire . Adolf Exner came from this family [2] Karl Exner [3] , Franz Serafin Exner and Maria von Frisch other.

At first he studied at the university of his native city , where he attended lectures by the famous physiologist and psychologist Ernst von Brücke , then continued his studies at the University of Heidelberg under the supervision of Hermann Ludwig Ferdinand Helmholtz .

In 1870, Exner defended his doctorate in medicine [1] .

Since 1891 - an ordinary professor and director of the Physiological Institute at the University of Vienna [1] .

The scientific works of Sigmund Exner concern mainly the physiology of the nervous system ; his guide to microscopic technology was one of the first manuals to appear in this area [1] .

Sigmund Exner died on February 5, 1926 in Vienna.
