Ostan Gulsby ( Eng. Austan Dean Goolsbee ; born August 18, 1969 , Waco , Texas ) - American economist , professor named after Robert P. Gwynn of the David Booth School of Business at the University of Chicago . Chairman of the Council of Economic Advisers of the White House (2010-2011). Member of the US Democratic Party .

He received a bachelor's degree ( summa cum laude ) and master of economics from Yale University (1991). Degree in economics in MIT (1995).

He worked in the Presidential Council for Economic Recovery .
In 2010-2011, the head of the Presidential Council of Economic Consultants (CEA). Replaced in this post K.Romer. As Vedomosti noted, “Since Gulsby is on the council, his appointment does not require a vote in the Senate ” [2] .
Having decided to resign, Gulsby noted Obama's great merit in overcoming the most serious economic crisis of our time (see the World Financial and Economic Crisis ) [3] .
As noted in connection with the announcement of his upcoming resignation of Economic News: “For many years, Gulsby was considered the face of the White House economic news for many. Regularly every first Friday of the month, he spoke to the press, talking about the measures being taken by the presidential administration in the labor market ” [3] .
He was the youngest member of the Cabinet of Barack Obama .
