Junior Enrique Díaz Campbell ( Spanish: Júnior Enrique Díaz Campbell ; born , ) is a Costa Rican footballer , defender of the Herediano club and Costa Rica national team . Participant in the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens , as well as the 2014 World Cup .

Club career

In 2003, Diaz began his career at the Herediano Club. In the team, he spent four seasons after playing more than 100 matches and scoring 10 goals. In January 2008, Junior joined the Krakow Wisla . On February 26, in the Extraclasses Cup match against Jagellonia , he made his debut for a new team. On March 15, in a duel against Lech , Diaz made his debut in the Polish Extraclass . As part of the Vistula, Junior won the Polish championship three times. On August 31, 2008, Diaz moved to the Belgian Brugge . On September 19, in his match against Charleroi , he made his debut in the Jupile League [1] . Due to the high competition, Junior did not often go on the field and at the end of the season he returned to Vistula on a one-year lease, after which Brugge sold Diaz to the German Mainz 05 . On September 22, 2012, in his match against Augsburg , he made his debut in the Bundesliga [2] . On September 30, in a fight against Wolfsburg , Junior scored his first goal for a new club [3] .

In the summer of 2015, he moved to Darmstadt 98 . On September 22, in a match against Bremen's “ Bremen ”, Diaz made his debut for a new team [4] .

On May 7, 2003, in a friendly match against the Chinese national team, Junior made his debut for the Costa Rica national team . In 2004, as part of the national team, Diaz went to the Olympic Games in Athens . At the tournament, he played in matches against the teams of Morocco [5] , Iraq [6] , Portugal [7] , Argentina [8] and helped the team reach the quarter finals. In the same year, he took part in the America's Cup in Peru . At the tournament, Junior played only in a duel against the national team of Chile [9] . In 2005, as part of the national team, he became the owner of the Central American Cup . In the same year, Junior took part in the CONCACAF Gold Cup in 2005 . At the tournament, he played in a duel against the Cuban national team [10] .

October 15, 2008 in a meeting of the qualifying round of the World Cup in South Africa against the national team of Haiti Diaz scored his first goal for the national team [11] .

In 2011, Junior took part in the CONCACAF Gold Cup for the second time. In the tournament, he played in matches against the national teams of Cuba [12] , El Salvador [13] , Mexico [14] and Honduras [15] .

In 2013, Junior performed for the third time at the CONCACAF Gold Cup . At the tournament, he played in fights against the teams of Honduras [16] , USA [17] and Belize [18] .

In 2014, Diaz was included in the application for the national team to participate in the World Cup in Brazil . At the tournament, he played in matches against the national teams of Uruguay [19] , Italy [20] , England [21] , Greece [22] and the Netherlands [23] .

In 2015, Junior performed for the fourth time at the CONCACAF Gold Cup . At the tournament, he played in fights against the teams of Jamaica [24] , Canada [25] and Mexico [26] .
