Biography
The son of a peasant. At the age of 14 he entered training at the Schönfeld lithograph. After graduation, he worked as a lithographer, first in St. Gallen , then went to Italy to Verona , and later to Naples , where he lived and worked for more than ten years.
Then he studied at the Munich Academy of Arts under the leadership of Arthur von Ramberg . After graduating from the academy, he opened his own studio.
Creativity
Conrad Coffin is mainly the author of paintings on historical subjects and genre paintings. In addition, K. Grob is a talented lithographer .
The painter's works were very popular, his name became famous in Switzerland. The artist’s lithographs were published on the pages of Swiss newspapers and magazines.
In 1878, at the World Exhibition in Paris, he exhibited his historical canvas “ The Battle of Zempach ”.
Later turned to genre painting. He created a number of paintings on mythological subjects.
The coffin Conrad died in Munich at the age of 76 from complications from pneumonia .
