Area - 0.4 km² (42.9 ha). The maximum depth is 19.0 m, the average depth is 9.0 m. [1]
The nearest settlements are the villages of Podchernyaevo (2 km south of the lake) and Melekhovo (1 km north of Lake Cherny).
Low flow. Belongs to the basin of the Rubezhniy brook, connecting through flowing lakes to the Velikaya River.
The type of lake is carp and perch. Mass fish species: pike, roach, perch, rudd, ruff, crucian carp, tench, loach; broad-toed cancer (low productivity). [one]
