Biography

Born on October 25 ( November 7 ), 1916 in Moscow. He spent his childhood and youth in the village of Tomilino ( Lyubertsy district of the Moscow region ). He graduated from 7 classes of a school in the city of Lyubertsy ( Moscow Region ), in 1933 - the school of FZU in Moscow. In 1933-1936 he worked as a turner for metal at the aircraft engine factory number 24 in Moscow.

In 1936 he graduated from the flying club at the aircraft engine factory No. 24 , in 1937 - from the Ulyanovsk United Flight Technical School of Osoaviahim . In 1937-1939 he worked as an instructor pilot in the Railway Aero Club of Moscow.

In the army since January 1939. In 1939 he graduated from the Borisoglebsk Military Aviation Pilot School . He served in the Air Force as a pilot (in the Kiev Military District ).

Member of the Great Patriotic War : in June-September 1941 - pilot of the 89th fighter aviation regiment, in September 1941 - January 1943 - flight commander, deputy commander and commander of the air squadron, navigator of the 17th fighter aviation regiment. He fought on the South-West , Bryansk and Voronezh fronts. Participated in defensive battles in Ukraine, the defense of Kiev , battles in the Kursk and Belgorod directions, the Voronezh-Voroshilovgrad operation . July 3, 1942 in an air battle was wounded in the head.

For courage and heroism shown in the battles, by the Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of February 4, 1943, Captain Novikov Alexei Ivanovich was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal .

In April-August 1943 he was a pilot inspector in piloting technique of the 278th Fighter Aviation Division, in August 1943 - May 1945 he was the head of the air rifle service of the 3rd Fighter Aviation Corps. He fought on the North Caucasian , Stepnoy , South , 4th Ukrainian , 3rd and 1st Belorussian fronts. He participated in the air battle in the Kuban , Donbass , Melitopol , Crimean , Vilnius , Warsaw-Poznan , East Pomeranian and Berlin operations.

During the war, he made 485 sorties on I-16 , LaGG-3 , La-5 , R-39 “Aerocobra” , Yak-1 , Yak-9 and Yak-3 fighters , personally shot down 8 in 87 air battles and as part of groups of 6 enemy aircraft [1] [2] .

After the war, until 1948 he continued to serve as head of the air-rifle service of the fighter air corps (in the Group of Soviet Forces in Germany ). From January 1948, he was a senior inspector, department head and group leader, and in 1956-1958 he was deputy head of the combat training department for fighter aviation of the country's air defense . In 1960 he graduated from the Military Academy of the General Staff . In 1960-1963 - Head of the Combat Training Directorate of Air Defense of the country , from 1963 - Head of the Human Resources Department of Air Defense of the country . Since June 1970, Major General Aviation A.I. Novikov - retired.

He lived in Moscow. He died on October 23, 1986 . He was buried at the Vagankovsky cemetery in Moscow.
