Biography
Konstantin Krasnokutsky was born on December 18, 1914 in the village of Zaliman (now - Balakleysky district of the Kharkov region of Ukraine ). After graduating from five grades of the school, he worked as a tractor driver. In 1936, Krasnokutsky was called up for service in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army. Participated in the battles at Khalkhin Gol . Since June 1941 - on the fronts of World War II. In 1942, Krasnokutsky graduated from advanced training courses for command personnel. By January 1945, Captain Konstantin Krasnokutsky commanded a tank company of the 46th Guards Tank Regiment of the 2nd Shock Army of the 2nd Belorussian Front . Distinguished himself during the Vistula-Oder operation [1] .
On January 14, 1945, a company of Krasnokutsky successfully captured the village of Dzerzhanovo north of the city of Pultusk and headed for the town of Schwelze . When the German units launched a counterattack, the company successfully held the defenses, destroying 6 anti-tank guns, 10 mortar batteries, 17 machine guns and more than 100 enemy soldiers and officers. In that battle, Krasnokutsky was seriously wounded, his tank was hit, but he continued to fight, dying. He was buried at the site of his last battle [1] .
By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of June 29, 1945, Captain Konstantin Krasnokutsky was posthumously awarded the high rank of Hero of the Soviet Union . He was also awarded the Orders of Lenin , Red Banner and Red Star , along with a number of medals [1] .
