Davis was born and raised in Longview , Texas. He was selected by the 2006 Major League Baseball Draft in the fifth round of the Rangers Club. Davis quickly went through the system of lower leagues and in 2007 was named player of the year of the lower leagues. In mid-2008, he was called up to the main team and in 2009 became the main player in the first base of the Rangers. For 92 games, he knocked out 21 home runs, but showed a low percentage of hit back and often received strikeouts . Because of this, for the next two years, he periodically went back to the lower leagues and then returned to the main team. On July 30, 2011, the Rangers traded him to the Baltimore Orioles for Tommy Hunter and Koji Uehara .

Professional career

On July 14, 2013, Davis made the 500th career hit in a game against the Toronto Blue Jays .

On September 13, 2013, Davis made the 50th home run of the season, repeating Brady Anderson's achievement in the number of home runs made by Orioles in one season. He also became the third player in the history of Major League Baseball, after Babe Ruth and Albert Bell , who made 50 home runs and 40 doubles in one season [1] .

On September 12, 2014, Davis was suspended for 25 games due to a positive doping test for amphetamines [2] . The player himself said that a positive result was obtained due to the use of Adderall , to which he previously had permission, but it did not apply to the 2014 season [3] . Thus, Davis missed the last 17 games of the regular season, 7 playoff games in which Orioles participated, and the first match of the season of 2015 [4] .

Personal life

In 2011, Davis married a girl named Jill [5] . The couple and their daughter Ella currently reside in Baltimore ( Maryland ) and in Arlington ( Texas ) [6] . In the offseason, David is fond of fishing.

Davis is a Christian. His childhood, his parents drove to the First Baptist Church in Longview [7] . However, only after difficulties in the 2010 season did he “truly discover faith”. And now a baseball player reads the Bible daily [8] .
