Stigma (from it. Kleim, other English. Clam, from the lower it. Klem - "glue, solution, adhesive") [1] - a graphic image applied to a thing, animal or product for identification with the owner, manufacturer [2] [3] . Also, the mark can serve as a sign of quality. [4] In antiquity, stamping on a person was allowed, as a rule, for misconduct (an attempt to escape a slave). [5] [6] The mark can be applied in various ways:
- Impact - mainly on metal products, applied with a tool made of harder metal;
- Burning - on animals, on the packaging of the goods, is applied by a highly heated object; [7] [2]
- Coloring agent transfer - on goods, animals.
The stamp imprint is called the stigma depending on the field of application, traditions, preferences.
