Pappenheimer ( English Pappenheimer sword ) - edged weapons of the late XVI-XVII centuries.
Pappenheimer consists of a thick blade 1190-1215 mm long and a complex painted guard . The handle consists of a handle protecting the owner’s hand and one or even a whole system of ventilated steel plates. The blade was mainly used for stabbing and cutting strikes. Used until the end of the XVII century in England and Germany and other European countries .
The weapon is named after Gottfried Pappenheim , Commander-in-Chief of the Catholic League in the Thirty Years War .
