History

By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of August 21, 1952 "On the abolition of military ranks and the introduction of new ranks for the commanding staff of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the USSR" for the commanding staff of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the USSR (with the exception of generals , officers , sergeant and rank and file convoy guards, engineering anti-chemical units and headquarters of the MPVO, military building units of the USSR Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Special Road Building Corps ) military ranks were abolished and special ranks were introduced, including for the higher flattering composition:

By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of October 23, 1973, “On Special Ranks of the rank and file of internal affairs bodies,” a new system of ranks for generals of internal service was introduced:

  • Colonel General of the Internal Service
  • lieutenant general of the internal service
  • major general of internal service

According to the Decree of the Council of Ministers of the USSR of October 23, 1973 No. 778 “On the Approval of the Regulations on the Service by the rank and file of the internal affairs bodies”, persons with special ranks of the general of the internal service of 2 and 3 ranks began to be considered in special ranks of the lieutenant general of the internal service and major general of internal service.
