The NABC Player of the Year Basketball Player of the Year is the annual basketball award awarded to the best student basketball player based on voting results. This award was established by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) and was first presented to David Thompson of the University of North Carolina in the 1974/75 season at Division I of the National College Sports Association (NCAA) . And from the 1982/83 season, it also began to be awarded to the best basketball player among students in the II and III divisions of the NCAA. The award is sponsored by the American group of companies State Farm Insurance .

Only two players, Ralph Sampson and Jay Williams , received this award twice, and only Kevin Durant and Zion Williamson became laureates of the award, being freshmen. Three times the winners of this award were two players each (2002, 2004 and 2006). Most often, the winners of this award were basketball players at Duke University (6 times). The current winner is Zion Williamson of Duke University.
