History

The foundation of the Umid village ( Russian “Hope” ) was laid in accordance with the initiative and decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Heydar Aliyev in 1999 , with the commissioning of 110 private residential buildings for refugees from Armenia and internally displaced persons as a result of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict . In 2000, the village received the status of an administrative-territorial unit . [2]

In 2005 - 2008 , the Norwegian international humanitarian organization “Refugee Council”, the executive branch of the Karadag region of Baku, and the Mishni community of the Lachin region of Azerbaijan carried out a joint project, in which 110 cottages were erected in the Umid village for representatives of the community. [3] The commissioning of 52 houses took place on June 19, 2013 . The project was sponsored by the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Norwegian oil company Statoyl Abşeron . [four]
