Biography

Born in 1909 in the city of Yekaterinoslav to the family of a tram worker. After completing the seven- year plan in 1927, he worked as a loader for two years at the Petrovsky plant, and in 1929 he entered the Dnepropetrovsk Mining Institute, which he graduated in 1933.

Mining engineer V.T. Shibaev began his activity in the coal industry in Kuzbass . Over the course of nine years, occupying engineering positions successively, he grew up into a large business manager: head of mine section No. 3, chief engineer of the Kaganovichugol trust.

During the Great Patriotic War from 1942 to 1946 Vasily Shibaev led the trust Prokopyevskugol , where coal production during this period increased by more than one and a half times.

From 1946 to 1951, V. T. Shibaev headed the Karagandaugol plant in the Karaganda coal basin. The organizational abilities and engineering courage shown by him in solving the most difficult technical problems facing the coal industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan in those years put him among the prominent figures in the national economy.

From 1951 to 1954, Shibaev was Deputy Minister of Coal Industry of the USSR A.F. Zasyadko . With the restructuring of organizational structures in the coal industry from 1954 to 1957, he headed the joint plant Voroshilovgradugol .

In recent years, from 1957 to 1971 V.T. Shibaev first worked as the head of the coal department of the Dnieper Economic Council, under his direct supervision the development of the Western Donbass was carried out, and then an adviser to the rector of the Dnipropetrovsk Technical Institute.

For success in the development of the coal industry in 1948, V.T. Shibaev was awarded the title Hero of Socialist Labor , he was awarded two Orders of Lenin, the Order of the Red Banner of Labor, the Order of the Badge of Honor (1937) and a number of medals.

In 1961 he retired, went to his hometown of Dnepropetrovsk. He died on May 9, 1971 .
