Sunset. June, the city of Gubkin
Sunset - the disappearance of the light under the horizon . Sunset (sunset) of the Sun - the moment of disappearance of the upper edge of the star under the horizon . The concept of sunset can also refer to the whole process of crossing the horizon by a visible disk of the star.
Due to the influence of the atmosphere, sunset is observed somewhat later than it would have been observed in the absence of the atmosphere (see Sunrise ).
Sunset is often brighter than sunrise, and with brighter reds and oranges. During the day, the Sun heats the surface of the Earth, decreases relative humidity and increases wind speed, dust rises into the air. However, the differences between sunrise and sunset may in some cases depend on the geographical position of the observer.
Sunset time varies throughout the year and depends on the geographic latitude, geographic longitude and altitude of the observation point. In the northern hemisphere north of the northern tropic, the place of sunset from the day of the vernal equinox to the day of the autumnal equinox (ie, from March to September) is the northwest quadrant, and the southwest quadrant in the rest of the year. In the southern hemisphere south of the southern tropic, the place of sunset from the day of the vernal equinox to the day of the autumnal equinox (ie, from September to March) is the southwest quadrant, and the rest of the year is the northwest quadrant. On the day of the equinox, sunset occurs almost exactly in the west for observers at all points of the Earth’s surface other than the poles.
