Izyumskaya bend (Izyumskaya Luka; Ukrainian: Izyumska Luka ) is a regional landscape park with an area of 5,002 hectares, formed in 2003 on the territory of the Balakleysky and Izyumsky districts of the Kharkov region of Ukraine [1] [2] [3] [4] [5] [6 ] .

The main conservation priorities for the protected area of the park are [2] :
- Conservation of nesting sites of the gray crane .
- Preservation of pine massifs, nesting sites of the White-tailed Eagle , burial ground , Great spotted eagle , balaban and other daytime predators.
- Preservation of the places of formation of the migratory congestion of the gray crane.
- Elimination of biological conflict factors between acclimatized and native species.
The managing organization of the park is the state-owned enterprise Izyum Forestry [5] .

Geography
Location
The Izyumskaya Bend regional landscape park is located in the Seversky Donets river valley in Balakleyskoye and Izyumsky districts of the Kharkiv region of Ukraine near the villages of Petrovskoye , Zavgorodnee and Protopopovka [1] [5] .
The park is located in two forestries [1] [3] [4] [5] :
- Petrovsky sites: 140-143, 148-152, 164, 165, 169, 186-188, 213-215, 242, 273, 274.
- Suburban areas: 323, 324, 365, 366, 406, 407, 449, 604-623.
Description of landscapes
Park "Izyumskaya bend" is characterized by a significant variety of landscapes [1] [2] .
According to the physical-geographical zoning, “Izyumskaya Bend” refers to the northern steppe subzone of the Ukrainian steppe and its Donetsk-Don northern-steppe province [2] .
History
Scientists drew attention to the uniqueness of the natural complex of the Izyum bend back in the 1920s [6] . Thanks to their efforts, in 1937 this territory received the status of a local nature reserve called “Chernetchina” [6] . It had an area of about 22,000 ha [6] . But in 1951 the reserve was liquidated [6] .
New objects of the nature reserve fund appeared on this territory in 1984: Izyumskaya dacha, Krasnoshakhtarska, Peskovsky, Petrovsky oak-giant, but their total area was only 102.1 hectares [6] .
In 1990, by the Decree of the Supreme Council of the Ukrainian SSR, it was planned to create a reserve here until 2000 with a total area of 25676 hectares, however, due to the collapse of the USSR, this was not realized [6] .
Finally, in 2003, the Izyumskaya Bend regional landscape park was created, but in a very truncated form due to the resistance of local authorities involved in deforestation and hunting - instead of 26,000 hectares, as originally planned, a regional landscape park was allocated only 2560 ha [5] [6] .
In 2005, by the decision of the Kharkiv Regional Council, the park area was increased to 5002 ha [6] .
Biosphere
Plant World
“Izyumskaya bend” is characterized by a variety of natural vegetation, the complex of which has reckoned value [1] .
Experts characterize the forest of the park of the first category of bonitet as “extremely valuable", which is located in the arid steppe zone of Ukraine [2] . Forests of the “Izyum Bend” are assigned to a special category of protection [2] [3] .
Forest stands are represented by specimens of individual pines, oaks and poplars, reaching 100-150 years of age and huge size [1] .
Part of the plants growing in the park is listed in the Green Book of Ukraine [1] .
Of the rare plants, the Dnieper feather grassgrass , the moth calf, the centaury , meadow lumbago , the oak tulip , the skull- beetle fennel , the Russian hazel grouse , the pine forest beetles , colorful yarns , the spring onions , the snake onions , the salvia floating , the white water lily and the yellow water lily deserve special attention [2] .
Fauna
On the territory of "Izyumsky bend" live [1] :
- 4 species of animals listed in the European Red Book - 1 species of mammals and 3 species of birds.
- 20 species listed in the Red Book of Ukraine - 2 species of reptiles, 14 species of birds and 4 species of mammals.
- 33 species, rare for the Kharkov region - 3 species of amphibians, 5 species of reptiles and 24 species of birds.
Ecology
The territory of the Izyumskaya Bend park is included in the shale gas production area, which causes environmentalists' concern and protests [7] . In their opinion, gas exploration and production can cause irreparable damage to the protected area and the entire park [7] .
