The international journal “Legea și viața” (Law and Life) is a monthly legal journal. It was registered in August 1990 in the Republic of Moldova . The initial task was to cover the main events in the field of legislation of a sovereign independent republic. The Ministry of Justice, the Supreme Court, the General Prosecutor's Office, the State Arbitration Court and the Ministry of the Interior became the founders of the magazine. From the moment of its foundation, and still is the chief editor of Arsen Leonty Leontyevich. In 1993 , Law and Life magazine was re-registered as a state-owned enterprise, its founder was the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Moldova.

In June 1990 , the Declaration of Sovereignty was signed, after which the adoption of the new Constitution became the most important task in the country. The first issue of the journal, which was published in January 1991 , published an interview with the chairman of the commission for drafting the new Constitution, President of the Republic Mircea Snegur; from a legal point of view, it set the tone for press releases throughout the country to discuss the Basic Law. From that moment on, the magazine paid attention only to the most important and most important aspects in the field of law. The paramount task was legal education, information support of the population in the process of the country's transition to a market economy, coverage of the issues of the establishment of the rule of law, the fight against protectionism, corruption and crime.
In 1995 , the Higher Attestation Commission of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Moldova recognized the journal as a scientific publication.
In 2009 , the Higher Council on Science and Technological Development of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova accredited the journal as a scientific publication of category “C”. For more than 17 years, the journal publishes scientific articles by authors from many countries and is distributed in the Republic of Moldova, Romania, the Russian Federation, the Baltic States, Belarus, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Ukraine, etc. The editorial staff of the journal cooperates on a contractual basis with Petre Andrei (Iasi, Romania), Spiru Haret University (Constanta, Romania), the Baltic International Academy (Riga, La Twi), Odessa National Law Academy (Ukraine), etc.
In 2013 , due to the increased interest of Ukrainian authors in the journal, the Ukrainian representative office of the publication was opened in Odessa.
