Five years later, his play Negro (Murzyn, 1917) was staged on the stage of the capital's Polish Theater . The performance was a success and brought the author popularity. Over the next years, Shaniavsky wrote a number of plays - “Paper Lover” (“Papierowy kochanek”, 1920), “Daredevil” (“Lekkoduch”, 1923), “Bird” (Ptak, 1923), and in 1924 he wrote his only novel - “Love and important things” (“Miłość i rzeczy poważne”). The author’s plays were staged on the stages of various Polish theaters, including the theater-laboratory Reduta by J. Osterwa .

In the 1930s the playwright's work was very popular. He was awarded a number of literary prizes, thanks to which in 1933 he was elected a member of the Polish Academy of Literature. In addition to theatrical scenes, his works were staged as radio shows and served as movie scripts.

While living in Krakow, in 1946 he wrote the play “Two Theaters” (“Dwa teatry”), as well as a series of stories about Professor Tutka. However, after Shaniavsky refused to write in line with socialist realism , which was officially recognized as the main artistic direction, In 1949 he was attacked by the Communist authorities of the NDP, as a result of which until 1955 the writer's works were not published.

In 1950, Jerzy Shaniavsky returned to his parent's estate and began to restore it. At the beginning of the thaw, in 1955, the Union of Polish Writers organized a large-scale celebration of the anniversary of Shaniavsky. In the same year, the writer received the Commander Cross of the Order of the Renaissance of Poland . However, the main works of Shanyavsky at that time were already written, and his new plays - Archers (Łuczniczki, 1959), Nine Years (Dziewięc lat, 1960) - although they had some success, they were much weaker than previous works playwright.

In 1977, the writer's estate in Zegrzynek burned down, and the writer's archive was lost in a fire, which, according to the memoirs of his contemporaries, contained 77 dramaturgic works, of which only about thirty were published.
