Biography
Ivan Krasikov was born on March 12, 1919 in the village of Vysheslavskoye (now - Suzdal district of Vladimir region ). After graduating from four classes of the school, he worked as a shepherd, then at a construction site in Moscow . Since 1936 he lived in Serpukhov , where he graduated from a factory apprenticeship school and worked at the Red Textile Factory. In 1939 he moved to the Kazakh SSR . In 1942, Krasikov was called up for service in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army. Since January 1943 - on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War. By September 1943, Junior Sergeant Ivan Krasikov commanded a mortar crew of the 956th Infantry Regiment of the 299th Infantry Division of the 53rd Army of the Steppe Front . He distinguished himself during the battle of the Dnieper [1] .
On September 30, 1943, Krasikov, as part of an assault group, was one of the first to cross the Dnieper in the Kremenchug area and seize a bridgehead on its western shore. Only in the first day of battles, his calculation destroyed 3 enemy dugouts, and also took an active part in repelling 13 enemy counterattacks. During hand-to-hand combat, Krasikov captured a German machine gun and, firing from it, destroyed a large number of enemy soldiers and officers. When the enemy approached the positions of the Soviet troops, Krasikov raised his comrades to attack. In that battle, he personally destroyed 25 enemy soldiers and officers, but he himself was wounded [1] .
By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of February 22, 1944, Junior Sergeant Ivan Krasikov was awarded the high rank of Hero of the Soviet Union for “exemplary performance of command missions of the command on the front of the fight against the German invaders and the courage and heroism shown” of the guard. He did not manage to receive the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal , since on April 12, 1944 he was mortally wounded in the battles for Dubossary [1] .
He was also awarded the Order of the Red Star [1] .
He was buried at the foot of the Mound of Glory in Dubossary (between the suburban villages of Dzerzhinskoye and Dorotsky . In Dubossary on May 5, 2010, granite busts were opened to the Heroes of the Soviet Union of the glories buried on the Mound: Ivan Krasikov , Grigory Korneev , Ivan Shikunov , Nikolai Alfyorov and Nikolai Alferyev . the streets in the city of Dubossary of the Pridnestrovskaia Moldavskaia Respublika are named after them.
