Content

History

Originally, the city bore the name Bridge Creek House in honor of the Bridge Creek flowing through it. The city was founded as a settlement, consisting of a small number of houses owned by Thomas Miller and serving as a transit point for travelers on the way from Kamloops to during the gold rush . The city got its current name during the Caribou gold rush, when in 1862 a roadside hotel was erected at a distance of 100 miles (160 kilometers) from .

In 1930, Lord Martin Cecil, 7th Marquis of Exeter , came to One Handred Mile House to manage the estates of his father, William Cecil, 5th Marquis of Exeter. The population of One Handred-Mile House, which at that time consisted only of a hotel, postal and telegraph offices and a power station, was 12 people. The hotel building burned out in 1937 [1] .

The main industries in the village are logging and animal husbandry . The construction of wooden houses and tourism are also important .

One Handred Mile House serves the number of people ten times its population. Lac La Hash , Forest Grove , Lone Butt , Horse Lake , Bridge Lake , Seventy Mile House , Canim Lake and One Handred Aite Mile Ranch served as service centers [2] .
