Lalla Ward ( born Lalla Ward , born June 28, 1951 [1] , London ) is an English actress and author. Known for her role as Novels in the television series Doctor Who .

Family
Her father, Edward Ward, was a BBC war correspondent in Finland at the start of World War II, while her mother, Marjorie Alice Banks, was a writer and producer on the BBC, specializing in theatricalization of documentaries. [2] There is brother Edward, two years younger than her, and half brother William, three years her older. Great-grandmother Mary Ward was an illustrator and amateur scientist and was documented as the first person in the world to die in a car accident. [3] [4]
Personal life
In 1980, she was sixteen months married to her partner in filming Doctor Who, Tom Baker . For many years, she was close friends with Douglas Adams [5] . He introduced Lulla to Richard Dawkins at her birthday in 1992 [5] [6] , and a few months later they got married [7] .
Career
The stage name "Lalla" comes from her attempt in infancy to pronounce her name. She graduated from school at age 14, because she "hated every minute of her." She studied from 1968 to 1971 at the Central School of Speech and Drama. [2]
