Biography
Since 1647 - Member of the Guild of St. Luke a Haarlem. In 1654 he became dean of the guild. A student of Nicholas Burham , later became a follower of the teacher in the image of the Italian landscape.
He was the first teacher of the painter Dirk Mas ; also among his students was Richard Brackenburg [5] .
In 1665 he settled in Amsterdam. In the 1640s he traveled to Italy.
He painted Italian landscapes with figures of peasants, animals, among which he almost always portrayed a donkey.
The artistβs paintings are in museums in Amsterdam, Berlin , Brussels , Munich , Stockholm and other European museum collections. One of the artistβs paintings - βView of the New Bridge in Parisβ now adorns the interior of the office of the Winter Palace of Peter I on the Neva embankment at the Winter Canal .
