Biography and career start
LaTavia Robertson was born in Houston, Texas.
At age 8, Robertson met Beyonce [1] . They, along with Knowles' girlfriend, Kelly Rowland , were selected for the rap dance group. Initially, the group was called Girl's Tyme , and its composition expanded to 6 people. To look at them, the new R&B producer Arne Frager flew to Houston. Then he took them to The Plant Recording Studios in Northern California . In addition to signing a contract with a major record label, Frager's strategy was to have the band perform on Star Search , the largest national talent show of the time. Girl's Tyme participated in the contest, but, according to Knowles, they lost because of a bad song [2] [3] .
To lead the group, in 1995, Father Knowles (who was selling medical equipment at that time) quit his job [4] .
Personal life
LaTavia is actually married to music producer Don Vito (b.1978). The couple has a daughter - Lyric Vito (born on 08.21.2013) [5] .
